Na rozdiel od predo\u0161l\u00fdch \u00faspe\u0161n\u00fdch sond v\u0161ak sklamala. Od\u0161tartovala bez probl\u00e9mov 25. septembra 1992 s nosnou raketou Titan 3 Commercial. Dostala sa na prechodov\u00fa dr\u00e1hu k Marsu, ku ktor\u00e9mu sa bl\u00ed\u017eila r\u00fdchlos\u0165ou 5,28 km\/s. Po\u010das letu k Marsu za\u010dala s prvou f\u00e1zou pr\u00e1ce \u2013 s v\u00fdskumom vlastnost\u00ed medziplanet\u00e1rneho priestoru, \u00farovne radi\u00e1cie, gama \u017eiarenia, v\u00fdskumom <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adhara.sk\/?page_id=2887\">Slnka<\/a>, a spolo\u010dn\u00fdm meran\u00edm s \u010fal\u0161\u00edmi vtedy funk\u010dn\u00fdmi sondami, Galileo a Ulysses, h\u013eadala gravita\u010dn\u00e9 vlny. V auguste 1993, kr\u00e1tko pred pr\u00edletom k Marsu, be\u017eali pr\u00edpravy na brzdiaci man\u00e9ver, ktor\u00fd mal zaisti\u0165 stabiln\u00fa obe\u017en\u00fa dr\u00e1hu okolo plan\u00e9ty. V pohonnom syst\u00e9me v\u0161ak pravdepodobne do\u0161lo vinou netesn\u00fdch filtrov k zmie\u0161aniu paliva s okysli\u010dovadlom a k n\u00e1sledn\u00e9mu v\u00fdbuchu. Tri dni pred pl\u00e1novan\u00fdm vstupom na orbitu, 21. augusta 1993, bolo so sondou straten\u00e9 spojenie. Nie je v\u0161ak vyl\u00fa\u010den\u00e9, \u017ee v skuto\u010dnosti i\u0161lo len o poruchu spojenia so Zemou a Mars Observer v automatickom re\u017eime uskuto\u010dnil man\u00e9ver navedenia na orbitu. Po \u00faspe\u0161nom \u0161tarte 7. novembra 1996 s raketou Delta sa vyskytol mal\u00fd probl\u00e9m \u2013 jeden z jej sol\u00e1rnych panelov sa \u00faplne nevyklopil, \u010do v\u0161ak misiu neohrozilo. Po \u010fal\u0161\u00edch drobn\u00fdch \u0165a\u017ekostiach, ktor\u00e9 sondu cestou postretli, bola 12. septembra 1997 naveden\u00e1 na obe\u017en\u00fa dr\u00e1hu okolo Marsu a za\u010dala ho sk\u00fama\u0165. Mars Global Surveyor plan\u00e9tu zmapoval, objavil jej slab\u00e9 magnetick\u00e9 pole a stopy po vode te\u010d\u00facej na jej povrchu, vyvr\u00e1til domnienku o umelom p\u00f4vode \u00fatvaru v oblasti Cydonia zn\u00e1meho ako \u201eTv\u00e1r na Marse\u201c, a preniesol na Zem celkovo takmer 83 gigabajtov inform\u00e1ci\u00ed. Fungoval dlh\u0161ie, ako hovoril pl\u00e1n. 2. novembra 2006 sa v\u0161ak po vyslan\u00ed rutinn\u00e9ho povelu na ot\u00e1\u010danie sol\u00e1rnych panelov stratilo spojenie s n\u00edm. V d\u00f4sledku zablokovan\u00e9ho nat\u00e1\u010dania panelu toti\u017e palubn\u00fd po\u010d\u00edta\u010d nato\u010dil sondu tak, aby z\u00edskavala maximum elektrickej energie i za cenu preru\u0161enia spojenia so Zemou. Orbit\u00e1lna \u010das\u0165 sondy so sebou niesla dve prist\u00e1vacie puzdr\u00e1. Misia v\u0161ak skon\u010dila ne\u00faspechom e\u0161te \u010faleko pred cie\u013eom. 16. novembra 1996, po \u0161tarte s nosnou raketou Proton-K sa sonda dostala na n\u00edzku parkovaciu dr\u00e1hu okolo Zeme. No ke\u010f sa z nej chcela odp\u00fata\u0165 a zamieri\u0165 k Marsu, motor \u0161tvrt\u00e9ho stup\u0148a rakety zlyhal. Namiesto pl\u00e1novan\u00fdch \u00f4smich min\u00fat horel len p\u00e1r sek\u00fand a navy\u0161e v nespr\u00e1vnom smere. Po druhom obehu Zeme Mars 96, u\u017e odpojen\u00fd od rakety, vst\u00fapil do zemskej <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adhara.sk\/?page_id=6627\">atmosf\u00e9ry<\/a>, kde zhorel nad ju\u017en\u00fdm Pacifikom. Obavu vyvol\u00e1vaj\u00fa silne r\u00e1dioakt\u00edvne plut\u00f3niov\u00e9 \u010dl\u00e1nky, z ktor\u00fdch mala sonda \u010derpa\u0165 elektrick\u00fa energiu, tie v\u0161ak pravdepodobne neporu\u0161en\u00e9 skon\u010dili na dne oce\u00e1nu. Misia bola ve\u013emi \u00faspe\u0161n\u00e1. Po \u00faspe\u0161nom \u0161tarte 4. decembra 1996 aj lete k Marsu sa prist\u00e1vac\u00ed modul 4. j\u00fala 1997 dotkol povrchu \u010dervenej plan\u00e9ty airbagom, ktor\u00fd ho chr\u00e1nil pred \u00fa\u010dinkami dopadu. 96 sek\u00fand po \u0148om pod\u013ea pl\u00e1nu poskakoval, a \u010fal\u0161ie dve a pol min\u00faty sa kot\u00fa\u013eal, k\u00fdm definit\u00edvne zastavil. Potom sonda airbagy vypustila, urobila sn\u00edmky okolia a vyklopila hlin\u00edkov\u00e9 panely, ktor\u00e9 posl\u00fa\u017eili Sojourneru ako rampa na cestu na povrch. Vozidlo nachodilo po Marse celkovo 62 m poskytlo 550 sn\u00edmok horn\u00edn. Prist\u00e1vac\u00ed modul odvysielal \u010fal\u0161\u00edch 16 000 sn\u00edmok, 15 chemick\u00fdch anal\u00fdz a \u00fadaje o po\u010das\u00ed na Marse. Priletelo na palube sondy Mars Pathfinder. Po prist\u00e1t\u00ed na Marse v panve Ares Vallis sa tri hlin\u00edkov\u00e9 panely sondy odklopili do str\u00e1n ako okvetn\u00e9 l\u00edstky a po jednom z nich Sojourner zi\u0161iel na povrch. Pracova\u0165 za\u010dal 6. j\u00fala 1997. Rover meral na d\u013a\u017eku 63 cm, v\u00e1\u017eil 11,5 kg a pohyboval sa prostredn\u00edctvom \u0161iestich koliesok, ka\u017ed\u00e9ho s vlastn\u00fdm pohonom. Navrchu mal umiestnen\u00fd sol\u00e1rny panel, ktor\u00fd pre\u0148 vyr\u00e1bal elektrick\u00fa energiu. Bolo mo\u017en\u00e9 riadi\u0165 ho aj zo Zeme, no vzh\u013eadom na dlh\u00fa dobu letu sign\u00e1lu v\u00e4\u010d\u0161inu \u010dinnost\u00ed Sojourner vykon\u00e1val automaticky. Pod\u013ea pl\u00e1nu mala sk\u00fama\u0165 plan\u00e9tu z v\u00fdstrednej obe\u017enej dr\u00e1hy po dobu tri a\u017e p\u00e4\u0165 rokov. Stredobodom \u0161t\u00fadia malo by\u0165 spr\u00e1vanie sa vysokej atmosf\u00e9ry Marsu pod vplyvom slne\u010dn\u00e9ho vetra. Do kozmu ju vyniesla \u0161tvorstup\u0148ov\u00e1 raketa M-5 4. j\u00fala 1998. Zauj\u00edmav\u00e1 je jej dr\u00e1ha \u2013 na rozdiel od predo\u0161l\u00fdch sond, ktor\u00e9 z parkovacej orbity Zeme zamierili rovno k Marsu, Nozomi dvakr\u00e1t letela k <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adhara.sk\/?page_id=8512\">Mesiacu<\/a> a sp\u00e4\u0165 k Zemi, aby zv\u00fd\u0161ila svoju r\u00fdchlos\u0165. Po skon\u010den\u00ed man\u00e9vrovania v\u0161ak nedosiahla pl\u00e1novan\u00fd kurz a preto nemohla Mars dostihn\u00fa\u0165 v roku 1999, ako bolo napl\u00e1novan\u00e9, ale musela k nemu letie\u0165 po takzvanej n\u00fadzovej dr\u00e1he s pr\u00edletom a\u017e koncom roka 2003. T\u00fdm v\u0161ak probl\u00e9my nekon\u010dili. Nozomi zlyhal hlavn\u00fd komunika\u010dn\u00fd syst\u00e9m, vyskytli sa poruchy v syst\u00e9me z\u00e1sobovania elektrickou energiou a dokonca hrozila zr\u00e1\u017eka sondy s Marsom. Viacer\u00e9 poruchy sp\u00f4sobili siln\u00e9 slne\u010dn\u00e9 erupcie v roku 2002. Nozomi sa napokon s plan\u00e9tou nezrazila a minula ju vo vzdialenosti 894 km, ale v tom \u010dase u\u017e riadiace stredisko nemalo so sondou spojenie. Jej hlavn\u00fdm cie\u013eom bolo denne sledova\u0165 po\u010dasie plan\u00e9ty, p\u00e1tra\u0165 po vode a uhli\u010ditanoch v atmosf\u00e9re a na povrchu. NASA tie\u017e potrebovala dosta\u0165 k Marsu dru\u017eicu, ktor\u00e1 by sa v bud\u00facnosti mohla pou\u017e\u00edva\u0165 na komunik\u00e1ciu telies na plan\u00e9te so Zemou. Mars Climate Orbiter vzlietol s nosnou raketou Delta 11. decembra 1998. Jeho dev\u00e4\u0165 a pol mesiaca trvaj\u00faci let k Marsu prebiehal bez probl\u00e9mov. Na spomalenie a zachytenie gravit\u00e1ciou plan\u00e9ty sonda pou\u017eila hlavn\u00fd motor. Po brzdiacom man\u00e9vri pod\u013ea o\u010dak\u00e1vania zmizla za Marsom, no u\u017e sa spoza neho nevynorila. NASA ju musela prehl\u00e1si\u0165 za straten\u00fa. Pod\u013ea vy\u0161etrovania sa po man\u00e9vri namiesto o\u010dak\u00e1van\u00fdch 140 a\u017e 150 km nad povrchom plan\u00e9ty dostala do v\u00fd\u0161ky iba 60 km, tak\u017ee zhorela v mar\u0165anskej atmosf\u00e9re. Mars Polar Lander vzlietol 3. janu\u00e1ra 1999. Po opusten\u00ed zemskej orbity sa vyskytli \u0165a\u017ekosti \u2013 automatick\u00fd orienta\u010dn\u00fd syst\u00e9m nebol schopn\u00fd sondu spr\u00e1vne zorientova\u0165. Technici probl\u00e9m vyrie\u0161ili. 3. decembra 1999 sonda vst\u00fapila do atmosf\u00e9ry Marsu. Pravdepodobne pre\u010dkala zostup vrchnou atmosf\u00e9rou a pod\u013ea o\u010dak\u00e1vania n\u00e1sledne rozprestrela aj pad\u00e1k, no zrejme pred\u010dasne vypla brzdiace motory a roztrie\u0161tila sa o povrch. Bola naveden\u00e1 na z\u00e1kladn\u00fa eliptick\u00fa obe\u017en\u00fa dr\u00e1hu okolo neho, z ktorej postupn\u00fdm brzden\u00edm o atmosf\u00e9ru pre\u0161la na v\u00fdsledn\u00fa kruhov\u00fa dr\u00e1hu vo v\u00fd\u0161ke asi 400 km nad povrchom. Vo febru\u00e1ri 2002 za\u010dal prebieha\u0165 vedeck\u00fd v\u00fdskum. Po auguste 2004, kedy mala skon\u010di\u0165 jej z\u00e1kladn\u00e1 misia, NASA nieko\u013ekokr\u00e1t uvo\u013enila finan\u010dn\u00e9 prostriedky na pred\u013a\u017eenie \u010dinnosti. Spolo\u010dne s hlavnou sondou putoval aj pripojen\u00fd zostupov\u00fd modul Beagle 2 vyroben\u00fd vo Ve\u013ekej Brit\u00e1nii. Ten sa od Mars Express odp\u00fatal 19. decembra 2003, e\u0161te pred jej naveden\u00edm na orbitu. K\u00fdm hlavn\u00e1 sonda \u00faspe\u0161ne zakotvila na obe\u017enej dr\u00e1he, Beagle 2 sa po prist\u00e1t\u00ed u\u017e neozval. Pr\u00ed\u010diny jeho zlyhania dodnes nie s\u00fa jasn\u00e9. Orbit\u00e1lna \u010das\u0165 sondy v\u0161ak po nieko\u013ek\u00fdch pred\u013a\u017eeniach funguje dodnes a z\u00edskala mno\u017estvo \u00fadajov o samotnom Marse aj jeho <a href=\"https:\/\/www.adhara.sk\/?page_id=7258\">mesiaci<\/a> Phobos. Medzi ne patr\u00ed napr\u00edklad objav pravdepodobn\u00e9ho zamrznut\u00e9ho mora na plan\u00e9te, objav met\u00e1nu a \u010dpavku v mar\u0165anskej atmosf\u00e9re \u010di vodn\u00e9ho \u013eadu v ju\u017enej pol\u00e1rnej \u010diapo\u010dke. Ka\u017ed\u00fd z nich niesol vedeck\u00e9 pr\u00edstroje na h\u013eadanie d\u00f4kazov o pr\u00edtomnosti tekutej vody na povrchu Marsu v minulosti. Spirit sa vzniesol na vrchole nosnej rakety Delta 7925 10. j\u00fana 2003. Let prebiehal bez v\u00e4\u010d\u0161\u00edch probl\u00e9mov a\u017e na mal\u00fa poruchu jedn\u00e9ho z vedeck\u00fdch pr\u00edstrojov. Rover dosadol na povrch plan\u00e9ty 4. janu\u00e1ra 2004 za pomoci tepeln\u00e9ho \u0161t\u00edtu, pad\u00e1ku, brzdiacich rakiet a airbagu. Bol to podobn\u00fd sp\u00f4sob, ak\u00fdm prist\u00e1l jeho predchodca Mars Pathfinder.<\/p>\n<h3>Spirit<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Rover MER-A menom Spirit bol jedn\u00fdm z dvoch vozidielok misie Mars Exploration Rovers. Bol asi dvakr\u00e1t v\u00e4\u010d\u0161\u00ed a desa\u0165kr\u00e1t \u0165a\u017e\u0161\u00ed ne\u017e jeho predchodca Sojourner. No tak ako on, aj Spirit sa pohyboval prostredn\u00edctvom \u0161estice koliesok a \u010derpal energiu zo Slnka. Prist\u00e1l 4. janu\u00e1ra 2004 a \u0161tyri min\u00faty nato odvysielal spr\u00e1vu pre riadiace stredisko, \u017ee je v poriadku. N\u00e1sledne sa vypustili airbagy, vyklopili sa kr\u00eddla prist\u00e1vacieho apar\u00e1tu a vysunul sa kamerov\u00fd sto\u017eiar. V \u010fal\u0161\u00edch d\u0148och prebiehali testy a 15. janu\u00e1ra 2004 Spirit vy\u0161iel na povrch plan\u00e9ty. Hoci sa p\u00f4vodne predpokladalo, \u017ee bude fungova\u0165 len 90 dn\u00ed, Spirit sa akt\u00edvne pohyboval po Marse do janu\u00e1ra 2010 a pre\u0161iel asi 7,7 kilometra. Potom sa zasekol na mieste, no na\u010falej pracoval a\u017e do 22. marca 2010, kedy sa definit\u00edvne odml\u010dal. E\u0161te vy\u0161e roka potom s n\u00edm riadiace stredisko sk\u00fa\u0161alo nadviaza\u0165 spojenie.<\/p>\n<h3>Mars Exploration Rovers \u2013 Opportunity<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Druh\u00e1 z dvojice americk\u00fdch sond k Marsu vypusten\u00fdch kr\u00e1tko po sebe po\u010das ve\u013ek\u00e9ho pribl\u00ed\u017eenia Marsu k Zemi v roku 2003. Tak ako jej dvoj\u010da Spirit, aj Opprtunity bola do vesm\u00edru vynesen\u00e1 nosnou raketou Delta 7925. Vzlietla 7. j\u00fala 2003. Po\u010das nieko\u013ekomesa\u010dnej cesty k \u010dervenej plan\u00e9te prebiehali kontroly. Phoenix potvrdil pr\u00edtomnos\u0165 vodn\u00e9ho \u013eadu na Marse, ktor\u00fd aj vyfotil, poslal nieko\u013eko \u010fal\u0161\u00edch anal\u00fdz p\u00f4dy, fotografi\u00ed, meteorologick\u00fdch meran\u00ed, zaznamenal dokonca sne\u017eenie. Spolo\u010dne s ruskou sondou sa k Marsu chystala letie\u0165 aj \u010d\u00ednska sonda Yinghuo-1. Na viacer\u00fdch pr\u00edstrojoch sa podie\u013eala aj ESA. S pomocou nosnej rakety Zenit-3F sonda Phobos-Grunt a Yinghuo-1 d\u0148a 8. novembra 2011 \u00faspe\u0161ne od\u0161tartovali na n\u00edzku obe\u017en\u00fa dr\u00e1hu Zeme, z ktorej sa mali dvoma n\u00e1sledn\u00fdmi re\u0161tartmi ur\u00fdch\u013eovacieho stup\u0148a Fregat dosta\u0165 na dr\u00e1hu k Marsu. Fregat sa v\u0161ak nespustil, Phobos-Grunt ostal obieha\u0165 okolo Zeme, a spojenie s n\u00edm sa preru\u0161ilo. V nasleduj\u00facich d\u0148och prebiehali ne\u00faspe\u0161n\u00e9 pokusy o nadviazanie komunik\u00e1cie. S drobn\u00fdmi komplik\u00e1ciami rover pre\u010dkal mnohomesa\u010dn\u00fd prelet medzi Zemou a Marsom, po\u010das ktor\u00e9ho zmeral \u00farove\u0148 radi\u00e1cie, \u010do s\u00fa inform\u00e1cie cenn\u00e9 pre pr\u00edpadn\u00fd pilotovan\u00fd let na Mars. 6. augusta 2012 Curiosity zvl\u00e1dol aj predt\u00fdm neodsk\u00fa\u0161an\u00fd komplikovan\u00fd sp\u00f4sob prist\u00e1vania v kr\u00e1teri Gale. S\u00fa\u010das\u0165ou tohto prist\u00e1vacieho postupu je tzv. nebesk\u00fd \u017eeriav \u2013 spustenie rovera z prist\u00e1vacieho stup\u0148a na povrch plan\u00e9ty na nylonov\u00fdch lan\u00e1ch.<\/p>\n<h3>Curiosity<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">T\u00e1to sonda zvan\u00e1 tie\u017e Mars Science Laboratory je \u00faspe\u0161nou a najmlad\u0161ou americkou sondou na Marse. Na povrchu za\u010dala pracova\u0165 6. augusta 2012. Hlavn\u00fa \u010das\u0165 sondy tvor\u00ed pojazdn\u00e9 laborat\u00f3rium, najv\u00e4\u010d\u0161ie a najlep\u0161ie vybaven\u00e9, ak\u00e9 kedy \u013eudstvo vyslalo mimo na\u0161u plan\u00e9tu. Toto vozidlo nesie desa\u0165n\u00e1sobne viac vedeck\u00fdch pr\u00edstrojov ne\u017e jeho predchodcovia Spirit a Opportunity, a na rozdiel od nich ho poh\u00e1\u0148a r\u00e1dioizotopov\u00fd zdroj, tak\u017ee po\u010dasie a ro\u010dn\u00e9 obdobia na Marse nie s\u00fa prek\u00e1\u017ekou v jeho pr\u00e1ci. Okrem in\u00e9ho tie\u017e objavil, \u017ee v mieste jeho prist\u00e1tia kedysi tiekla rieka, dok\u00e1zal, \u017ee mar\u0165ansk\u00e1 atmosf\u00e9ra v minulosti obsahovala ve\u013ea \u013eah\u0161\u00edch prvkov, a \u017ee na \u010dervenej plan\u00e9te boli kedysi podmienky vhodn\u00e9 pre vznik \u017eivota.
